The Story of Anne Frank
Anne Frank was born on June 12th 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. She was born as Annelies Marie Frank. She had a mother called Edith, a father called Otto and a sister called Margot.
She was Jewish and was very happy with her life. Everything was absolutely fine until things changed in 1933 when the infamous Adolf Hitler became the Führer of Germany. He and his government were against the Jews and other people who were thought be inferior. In a short amount of time Anne and her family moved to Amsterdam, in fear of persecution. During this time, Anne and Margot went to Montessori school and Anne had two best friends called Sona and Hannahlee.
When Hitler came to power, Anne and her family moved to Amsterdam in fear of persecution. But on July 5th 1942 Margot Frank, Anne Frank's sister, got sent to labour camp.
Labour camp was a polite way of saying concentration camp which is a place where people who were deemed 'inferior' got sent to become tortured and killed. Anne and her parents (Edith Frank and Otto Frank) were not happy with Margot being sent to labour camp. This is a quote which Anne said translated to English: “I was stunned. A call-up, everyone knows what that means. Visions of concentration camps and lonely cells raced through my head.”
Anne Frank was a little girl at heart. She was a bold, brave girl that was also a regular teenager. She had feelings for boys and wanted to look nice. She slowly fell in love with Peter Van Daan who was another Jew in hiding. Peter Van Daan was born in Osnabrück on November 8th 1926.
On Anne Frank's 13th birthday in 1942 she got a diary. This is how we know about her now. Anne Frank wrote in her diary like it was another human being, she even named it Kitty. She wanted to become a writer and writing in her diary every day helped with this.
